Well if he's real, he's an asshole. His own book proves him as one.

Is this really a place for Jehovah's Witnesses/Friends
by jeff spreng ini ask this because i was considering rejoining and the stories i have read only remind me of what was done to me.
is there any clean place to go where good people and fellowship can be had.
it sounds like maybe the people here should get together and start there own thing, like the reorganized latter day saints.

You, sir are prime to join another cult. If you don't have any friends then you're not likely charismatic enough to start your own. Maybe instead of looking for cults to join, maybe just try and be more open to new relationships? Try meetup.com They have groups in every area for various interests. Not a dating site in case you're wondering.
Also, maybe don't advertise the fact that you have no friends... Can turn people off. good chance you're clingy.

WHY MANY GET STUCK IN!
by ADJUSTMENTS infrom my experience as a jw i noticed that myself, and many young ones do not have a choice in the decision of becoming a jw or not.
from infancy you are indoctrinated, so by the time you become a teenager and just begining to reason on right and wrong and what you will do with your life it has already been decided.
so at this moment in your late teens you come to a cross roads... if you decide not to be a jw you will be mentally and emotionally beaten, threatened and oustracized bordering on abuse.

Great point. It really isn't a choice at all. Yet when one decides to point it out, the JW will immediately point out that it was YOUR choice to get baptized, and YOUR choice to leave. Always blame the person, not the cult.

Are you materialistic?
by Goldiver inwhy, yes i am according to the jws.
this is an topic that has always irked me with the jws.
anyone who had a good paying job and nice things was materialistic.

My wife and I have moved far from our families to make a very good living. Now we have nice things and a real financial plan and future.
So yes, by JW standards we are. By REAL standards, we do not hold ourselves to a certain financial standard or have a lifestyle we thing we need to keep up. We would be happy with much less, but are making decisions that are not counting on the world ending within 5 years.

Status quo? Or tell ttatt?
by ILoveTTATT insupposing i can pull off moving to the other city without the elders successfully finding me and forcing me to go to a jc or something.... should i ever tell my mom ttatt?
or should i let sleeping dogs lie?
it is extremely unlikely that dad will tell her ttatt... he prefers, 99% of the time, to not say anything rather than fight.
-
Captain Obvious
Maybe just be incredibly glad that your dad knows TTATT? She's his problem, not yours. He will likely run defense for you if she ever decides to try and shun you.
As far as moving goes, dude... Definitely. Maybe even make a short temporary move, have your cards sent there, then take off to where you really want to be? You don't want the elders in your new home to even know who you are.
Shoot me a PM with where you plan to go, if it's near where I am perhaps I can be of assistance.

Just become a window washer..............ya that.
by ctrwtf ini"m normally the kind of guy that likes to count his blessings.
i've got two great kids.
and a super wife who loves me despite myself.

Captain Obvious
Maybe use your ample income to save for university for your kids? Then you definitely wont be putting them in the same position as you were. Also, maybe get really involved in something in your community?

The Truth No one Wants To Hear
by maccauk11 inthe truth about messiah and what he acheived in the 1st century is something millions of believers in christ refuse to accept namely the historical record of things all fulfilled in that momentous 1st century.it is rejected because the -isms, man made doctrines, theologies, false teachings etc etc that abound since then and so millions have allowed themselves to be brainwashed, conditioned into.
the reality is so simple if one lets messiah remain with his intent and meaning.
but if we change his own words, we become divided.

Announcement made about me
by KariOtt inhubby informed me that an announcement was made to his congreation not to approach us when we are out together.
this was done at his request.
another way he can control me i guess.
-
Captain Obvious
Wow... Asshole. Why are you together again? Maybe it's time to upgrade the wardrobe on his dime, hire a trainer, jump up a few ranks and get a man who actually respects you.
Your choice to stay.

I think my fade has hit a rut. Do I need to grow a pair?
by konceptual99 inso here i am after about 18 months of wake up.
the first 6 months were a rollercoster of feelings as my whole belief system unravelled.
the last year has been more stable but things seem like they are just stalling now.. my wife is aware of many of my feelings although i have held back the fact that i am pretty close to denying all belief in any kind of god.
-

Stopping meetings is much more serious than stopping service. Your friends won't shun you so fast if you just quit service. Maybe try that? I quit within a month or two of waking up. Couldn't handle it. Wife was upset at first, but she barely goes out now too.
Seems like she is trying to make up for your lack of performance? Does she know how serious you are? Perhaps try the angle that you can't lie, you need to be hones. Your conscience is killing you, and must be honest.

If there's anything that convinces a Christian the Bible isn't infallible...
by ilikecheese init's got to be reading the old testament.
that is some messed up sh!t.. .
your choices are basically to think it's based on things that happened but men's version of events, there is tons of allegory, that it's just a bunch of made up nonsense, or to rip those parts of your bible out and pretend they don't exist.. .

Let it in my friend, let it in. That's your mind trying to work on its own!
If it's only the OT that bothers you, I suggest Bart D. Ehrman's 'Jesus, interrupted'
